Spotlight Stage Company and Stand Up and Speak Out

We are working on a Bully Prevention Musical Showcase, called Stand Up. This musical showcase highlights the severity of an issue, that many children face today, through entertainment and education. It addresses the effects that exclusion and negativity have on our youth, and informs students about ways in which they can STAND UP! against the cycle.

After the death of her mother, Stephanie Lawrence returns to the town of Rockville, where she attended grade school. Stephanie is enrolled as a sophomore at Rockville High School. She is apprehensive to return to Rockville due to being bullied in grade school. After a botched talent show audition, Stephanie is mocked and heckled. She overhears schoolmates Rea and Phil (among others) saying horrible things about her. Ian a whimsical, quirky, magical young boy comes to her as a friendly ghost in her dreams to show her why people are so mean sometimes, she then learns how she can Stand Up to overcome it.
